Here are some of the highlights from our past!

1991

The First Organizational Meeting at the SQA Meeting in Kansas City in October. Ten to twelve people attended.
December 6th was the second organizational meeting held at Genentech, Inc., South San Francisco, CA. The list of attendees included 25 people. At the meeting the name Pacific Regional Chapter of the Society of Quality Assurance was established. The region covered by the PRCSQA was also established, as well as the by-laws and charter. Officers and Board of Directors were nominated, and the election was held by written ballot. the results were as follows:

1992

At the January 31st Board Meeting of the Society of Quality Assurance the PRCSQA was approved as a Regional Chapter.
The first PRCSQA newsletter dated February 1992.

Chapter membership was approximately 68 by October.

1993

The membership directory contains approximately 81 members.
The PRCSQA hosted "A Taste of the Coast" at the Cable Car Barn in San Francisco during the 1993 SQA Meeting. The event featured fine wines from the West Coast, and especially California.

In November the PRCSQA was invited to present a GLP Workshop at the San Jose State University, College of Science.

2001

The PRCSQA organized a Spring Meeting with Karen Raskasky that was entitled "Advanced Computer System Validation in a Regulatory Environment". It was held at Amgen in Thousand Oaks, CA.

The Summer Meeting was held in Renton, Washington and included GLP, GCP and OECD issues.

The PRCSQA hosted the "Beach Party" reception at the Annual SQA meeting in San Diego.

2002

A Spring Meeting was held at Valent USA in Dublin CA that focused on EPA issues.

"It's All About Chemistry" was the theme of the two-day Summer Meeting held at Roche Bioscience in Palo Alto, CA. Dr. C. T. Vishwanathan from the FDA was our featured speaker.

2003

A two-day Summer Meeting was held at ChevronTexaco's Technology Center in Richmond CA. Our featured speakers were Ms. Francisca Liem of the EPA and Dr. Viswanathan from the FDA. A Fred Pryor seminar on "Conflict Management and Confrontation Skills" was presented on the second day.

2004

The Summer Meeting was hosted by Allergan in Irvine CA. It was a two-day meeting that consisted of one day of regulatory information and training and a one day seminar from Reid and Associates on "The Reid Technique of Interviewing: Assessing Witness Credibility."

"It's Raining Regulations" was the theme for our one and one-half day Fall meeting held at the Amgen Helix, Seattle WA facility.

2005

Our spring meeting in April focused on EPA field study issues and was hosted by Valent in Dublin, CA.

The Fall Meeting, "Don't Gamble on Compliance" in Las Vegas,Nevada was hosted in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Regional Chapter. It was a two-day meeting with regulatory agency speakers, Dr. Gerald McGirl and Dr. CT Viswanathan from FDA, and excellent industry training. Major jackpots were not reported!

2006

The An evening social event was hosted by the chapter during the SQA annual meeting in Phoenix, AZ (April).

Our Fall Meeting was hosted by Genentech in South San Francisco, CA. Basic GLP training was based on slides from SQA and an advanced GLP training session was provided. Lively round table discussions of the presentations nicely addressed any questions. Group training scenarios were on the agenda for added fun! The featured FDA speaker was Jane Kreis, Office of Regulatory Affairs.

2007

An evening social event was hosted by the chapter during the SQA annual meeting in Austin, TX (April).

Our Fall Meeting was held jointly with the Rocky Mountain Chapter SQA in Las Vegas, NV. A Fred Pryor training session for dealing with difficult people was offered and Linda Palagi Lynn conducted an equipment validation session. The meeting aligned with the national SQA quarterly meeting and the discussions were open to attendees from the joint chapters.

2008

A breakfast event was hosted by the chapter during the SQA annual meeting in Memphis, TN (May). Elvis was spotted enjoying peanut butter and banana sandwiches… he ate several!

The Fall meeting, “Fall For Compliance” was hosted by Genentech, Inc. on the South San Francisco campus. One of the newer buildings was utilized for the function and allowed concurrent sessions to be conducted. The sessions included a full day of Reid and Associates, Interviewing Techniques.

Day 2 included SQA Specialty Sections Updates for the Clinical Specialty Section, and the Program Planning Committee. Other sessions presented were Developing and Deploying a GXP Electronic Global Audit Management System, A Case Study for CRO-Sponsor Interactions and a Clinical QA Communication lesson.

Jane M. Kreis, R.Ph., MBA, CAPT, U.S. Public Health Service, Regional Training Officer, Pacific Region, Food and Drug Administration, presented FDA GLP/GCP Updates along with Carl Anderson discussing industry standards from the floor in tandem with the topics presented by Jane. It was a productive meeting and the board thanks the agency for continued participation with our chapter.
