I'm sure most of you are well into summer by now; however, up here in the Pacific Northwest, summer is slow to arrive, but we have seen a few days of sun to remind us that summer is on its way. As we near the halfway point in the year 2000, there are a few changes within the chapter I want to mention.

Our Vice President, Gary Charbonneau has resigned his position with the chapter. He has taken a position within Allergan in Regulatory Affairs. His involvement in our chapter will be missed.

At the last board meeting, we decided to move our elections up to August. This will allow for the transition to begin at the SQA annual meeting in October. The new officers will take over in January of each year.

With the elections coming up soon, we need to identify nominees for the following four positions: President (since Gary has resigned), Vice President, and two Board positions. If you are interested or would like to nominate someone, please contact me. Please note that officers also need to be members of SQA.

I would like to thank Allergan for hosting our Spring meeting. I hope everyone is multi-tasking with a minimum level of stress. Our summer meeting is being hosted by Roche Bioscience (see information later in this newsletter).

I hope you are all continuing to visit and use our website ( www.PRCSQA.org ). I think we have a great website with a lot of information. We are always looking for ways to improve the site. If you have any suggestions, we would like to hear about them.

One last itemÉ A couple of years ago, the chapter initiated a mentoring program. This program attempted to match individuals new to QA with a "mentor" they could contact to ask questions or get advice. While a couple of individuals were matched up, it was discontinued due to lack of interest. Is this a program you would be interested in trying again? The other officers, board members and I thought it might be worth trying again, but wanted to hear your opinion before we initiate this program. Please contact myself or another officer or board member with your opinions/suggestions.

- Have a great Summer!
