Read this interview and see if you really know who you are sitting next to at the meetings!

Q: My Birthplace is...
A: Madera, CA (Everyone's from Pan Ag at some time in their life!)

Q: How I got into Quality Assurance...
A: At a major intersection of my life, I left a customer service position with a multi-national paper company. After a break of five months off, I joined my present company in a tentative position which gradually brought me to accept the QA position there.

Q: I'm a sucker for...
A: Cloths and gear.

Q: My first job was...
A: In eighth grade, paperboy for the Fresno BEE.

Q: The most respected occupation should be...
A: Integrity should be respected, not occupations. Most agree that other people should tell the truth. What really impresses me is when someone tells the truth, knowing that it will negatively impact their own life to do so.

Q: The weirdest thing I ever saw was...
A: I can't think of one.

Q: On a rainy day, I like to...
A: A cup of hot tea, a window to watch the rain, warmth and a good book.

Q: If I could change places with somebody, I would be...
A: My lazy side would like to be a plantation owner in the pre-Civil War South. My exploring side would like to be Christopher Columbus, Ferdinand Magellan, or Admiral Byrd.

Q: I know I'll laugh when...
A: I talk to Marie Hulst or Joyce Herbert at work. They always cheer me up.

Q: The person who has the most impact on my life is...
A: It is hard to pick one. My parents and grandparents influenced my early life a lot. Jesus and many Christians have made an impact on my life. For the past several years my younger brother, Andrew, has been my best friend. My younger daughter, Melissa, challenges me often.

Q: The most impressive civilization in world history was/is...
A: The Greeks: I like their statues and architecture, and without them we would not have "columns" for our spreadsheets.

Q: My all-time favorite quote is...
A: "A little inaccuracy sometimes saves tons of explanation," H.H. Munro a.k.a. Saki. I always include this in my field investigator GLP training. (Just Kidding!! :-))

Q: One thing I can't stand is...
A: People duped into hating other people. Hate = some truth, out of balance. Love and truth balance each other, as do justice and mercy. If we separate these, we all lose.

Q: My all-time favorite movie is...
A: The Color Purple, Top Gun, (and Titanic) are classics I enjoy. For an original and funny movie, I recommend, The Full Monty.

Q: If there is one word that describes me, it is...
A: "Flexible" used to be the best word to describe me: it is declining as I age.

Q: My most memorable QA incident was...
A: While inspecting a calibration by a field investigator, I pointed out an important detail in a client SOP which he had overlooked. He replied, "We've never had to use client SOPs before!" We all had a good laugh over that one.

Q: If I won the lottery, I would...
A: I have never purchased a lottery ticket, and I have about the same chances of winning as the people who do...:-) Honestly, I do not know what I would do if I were instantly wealthy.

Q: My favorite hobbies are...
A: Backpacking and ocean/river kayaking.

Q: One of the most memorable incidents of my life was...
A: My daughters provide most of my memorable moments: Holding Amanda (18) at birth, telling her the meaning of her name. Backpacking with Melissa (16) at age five. And kayaking alone in the San Jaun Islands. (Keep those Northwest meetings coming!)
