THE PRESIDENT'S SPOT, Mary Kay Erickson The June 22 meeting in Bothell, Washington was hosted by Panlabs Biosafety. Many thanks to Sue Qualls for putting together such an informative meeting and Janet Rose Christensen and her company for providing such a nice place to hold the meeting.
The PRCSQA is looking for a few good men or women to run for office this year. The nominating committee consists of M.K. Erickson, S. Qualls and Gary Charbonneau. If you are interested in running for an office please contact a member of the committee. The continued success of our chapter is linked directly to member involvement. There are positions on the board as well as an opening for a new vice-president. Make 1999 the year to contribute time, energy and ideas to your professional organization (PRCSQA).

The board has instituted a new policy of publishing a year end treasurer report in the newsletter. Look for it in an upcoming newsletter. Jim McFarland has done an excellent job as treasurer. His efforts to present an organized summary of income and expenses has kept the board aware of how PRCSQA money is spent.

Thanks to the efforts of Judy Eller, the PRCSQA will have a poster display at the National meeting in Denver. Other PRCSQA activities at the National meeting include a "Coffee Hour" co-hosted with the Rocky Mountain chapter. Stop by Thursday October 22 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m to meet with other members of our chapter and the Rocky Mountain chapter. If you know of others interested in joining the chapter encourage them to visit the poster display and join us for coffee at the PRCSQA coffee hour Thursday, October 22, 1998.

A big Thank you to Maryls Okada for representing the PRCSQA on the national SQA nominating committee.

PRCSQA will be hosting its next meeting in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Chapter in January. Sue Qualls is organizing this meeting. If you have ideas on topics you would like to see explored in detail contact Sue Qualls.

For those attending the national meeting in Denver (October 19-23, 1998) the deadline for lower registration fees is September 16, 1998. If you are not a member and would like to attend contact the National SQA office, Debbie Espinoza, 515 King Street, Suite 420, Alexandria, Virginia 22314 or phone (703) 684-4050 for further information. See you in Denver!
